Thank you Tom. We had a pool when our kids were young. The pool was great fun for the kids. But we quickly learned that they enjoyed being out there more than we did. That's a dangerous situation because of the temptation to let them swim alone or to get distracted with other chores while the children are in the water. You just have to watch them every second. It takes an alarmingly short time for a child to drown. Fortunately, we had no serious injuries in the pool, but we would have if an adult hadn't always been carefully watching. And I should have mentioned that a bathtub can be every bit as dangerous as a swimming pool. I better go back and edit the article.

Bob:

Thanks for publishing this very helpful and important information about pool safety for children.

As the father of a two toddlers -- 21 months old and 4 months old -- with an inground pool, I read your article with utmost interest and immediately thereafter emailed it to my wife at home for her to read.

Keep up the good work.
