The Social Security Administration has announced that the one-time $250 stimulus payment to SSD and SSI recipients will be paid by late May of this year. Here is the official announcement:
President Obama recently signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. This act provides for the one-time payment of $250 to individuals who get Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security benefits.
We expect everyone who is entitled to a payment to receive it by late May 2009. No action is required on your part.
We are currently working on the details regarding how we will issue nearly 55 million one-time payments to our beneficiaries.

Dear Bob,
I forgot to ask you if I may post this on my blog, and would give the link to your site. I would like to also put you on my Blogroll. Would this be ok with you?
Thanks!

Dear Bob,
Apparently my first comment did not go through. I am waiting for an answer on my Disability claim. 90 days would be on June 16, 120 days is July 16, 2009.
Do you know if this one time stimulus would be given to those JUST approved one month after?
I think your site is great and please feel free to stop by my site about my life in Chronic Pain.
Thank you,
Shauna
Thank you for your inquiry Shauna. Unfortunately, my understanding is that you will NOT receive a stimulus payment. This is a quote from the Social Security Administration Web site: “Individuals who were not eligible for Social Security, SSI, Veterans, or Railroad Retirement benefits at any time during the months of November 2008, December 2008, or January 2009 are not eligible for the one-time payment.”
So if I’m reading this correctly, you must have been receiving benefits by January of 2009 in order to qualify for the $250 payment. Sorry…

When will stimulus payments start going out.
The payments have started, and will all be sent out this month (we hope). The Social Security Administration says don’t contact them unless you have not received your check by June 4, 2009. After that, you can call or write the Social Security Administration and ask if there was a mix-up on your check.
I started getting ssi in may of this year but it back paid me till oct 08. do i get 250 this year.
According to the Social Security Administration Web site, “Individuals who were not eligible for Social Security, SSI, Veterans, or Railroad Retirement benefits at any time during the months of November 2008, December 2008, or January 2009 are not eligible for the one-time payment.” As I interpret that statement, you were eligible in those months, so you should receive a payment. However, this is just my opinion. I recommend you contact the Social Security Administration for an official answer. Good luck!
I recived a letter saying a stimuluis check for $250. would be sent to the same bank account that my VA disability is sent. I have not seen any check? Was that a mistake or when do you think I will see it?
Thanks,
The government said all checks should be received by June 4, so I would contact the Social Security Administration and find out if there was an error.
